Youth Intern – Summer 2026 Internship

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is launching its 2026 Newcomer Youth Summer Academy, a five‑week intensive program for newcomer youth ages 12‑21 in Prince George’s County. As a Youth Intern you will support all phases of the academy, from recruitment and curriculum design to classroom teaching and program evaluation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct home visits to enroll newly arriving or referred families.
• Solicit local companies and organizations for donations of services or goods.
• Develop and deliver teaching content and curricula aligned with academic standards.
• Interact daily with students, building positive relationships and encouraging academic success.
• Assist with program logistics, including set‑up, participant communication, attendance tracking, and administering pre‑ and post‑program surveys.
• Provide feedback on existing curriculum and collaborate with the youth team to refine or expand materials.

Required profile

• Access to a personal vehicle.
• Available to work at least 30 hours per week from June 9 to approximately August 22, 2026.
• Experience in education or youth development (e.g., facilitating summer camps, teaching, tutoring).
• Ability to engage with multilingual newcomer students and adapt to a fast‑paced, community‑focused environment.
