Wind Farm Technician II

About the role

The Wind Farm Technician II supports the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of one or more wind farms. You will perform scheduled maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and ensure the availability of plant tools, vehicles, and resources in line with the Operations mission.

Key responsibilities

• Execute all operation and maintenance activities safely, following site policies and procedures.
• Conduct acceptance and performance tests after planned maintenance or outages.
• Perform turbine maintenance, including service, major component replacement, and troubleshooting.
• Assist with Balance of Plant tasks such as substation and collection system upkeep.
• Maintain accountability and readiness of tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Provide technical guidance to the O&M team and track service activities in the digital maintenance management system.
• Participate in safety exercises and act as backup for personnel at other RWE sites when needed.

Required profile

• High School Diploma (required) or Associate’s Degree in a scientific field (preferred).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in operations/maintenance of power generation, transmission, or distribution, or a relevant technical degree with comparable experience.
• Current unrestricted driver’s license in good standing.
• Willingness to relocate within one hour of the wind farm site.
• Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and travel between job sites as assigned.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Experience with wind turbine platforms (Vestas, GE, Acciona, Nordex) preferred.
• Journeyman or Master Electrician license, or Wind Tech Certificate.
• Intermediate PC/Laptop skills and competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft Teams.
• Ability to create and present technical documentation and presentations.
