Wind Farm Technician Associate

About the role

The Wind Farm Technician Associate supports the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of one or more wind farms. The role focuses on executing scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring the availability of plant tools and vehicles while promoting a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all operations and maintenance activities safely, following site policies and procedures.
• Conduct acceptance and performance tests after planned maintenance or outages.
• Execute turbine maintenance, including service, major component replacement, and troubleshooting.
• Assist with Balance of Plant tasks such as substation and collection system upkeep.
• Maintain accountability and readiness of tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Provide technical guidance to the O&M team and record service activities in the digital maintenance management system.
• Act as backup for personnel at other RWE sites when needed.

Required profile

• High School Diploma (required); Associate’s degree in a scientific or technical field preferred.
• Current journeyman or master electrician license preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in operations or maintenance of power generation, transmission, or distribution.
• Unrestricted driver’s license in good standing.
• Willingness to relocate within a one‑hour drive of the site.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and make discipline‑specific decisions.

Required skills

• Electromechanical troubleshooting
• Reading electrical, mechanical & hydraulic schematics
• LOTO (Lock‑out/Tag‑out) procedures
• Knowledge of electromechanical relays, hydraulic accumulators, linear transducers, and electric motors
• Understanding of power electronics, motor drives, and AC/DC converters
• Familiarity with computer network communication protocols
