Utility Locator (Field Technician) – Houston, TX

About the role

Stake Center Locating is seeking entry‑level Locate Technicians to identify and mark underground utilities in the Houston area. You will work outdoors in all weather conditions, using specialized equipment to prevent damage to community infrastructure while receiving 100% paid training.

Key responsibilities

• Use a laptop computer to receive, document, and process service tickets.
• Read maps and interpret blueprints to determine optimal locating methods.
• Operate locate equipment and technology to accurately find underground utilities.
• Mark utility locations with paint and flags according to safety standards.
• Communicate clearly with peers, supervisors, and homeowners.

Required profile

• At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to walk up to 5 miles a day 2‑3 times per week.
• Physical capacity to carry equipment (up to 5 lb) and lift objects up to 25 lb (or 75 lb with tool aids).
• Pass pre‑employment background and drug screening.
