Utilities Engineer – Transportation Projects

About the role

The Utilities Engineer will lead multidisciplinary teams to design, modify, and construct utility systems for large‑scale transportation projects. You will own projects from concept through delivery, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with client and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead project teams of engineers, designers, and field staff in utility system design and constructability reviews.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve engineering and construction challenges.
• Coordinate utility relocation with federal, state, local agencies and utility owners.
• Manage detailed design phases, controlling scope, cost, and schedule.
• Prepare, host, and track action items from project progress meetings.
• Negotiate contract revisions with sub‑consultants and clients.
• Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specification.
• Produce technical reports and studies that meet client requirements.
• Perform independent reviews of calculations and drawings prepared by others.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation utility engineering, design, or construction.
• Proven ability to manage engineering, design, or construction projects.

Required skills

• Bentley MicroStation.
• Open Roads Designer (preferred).
• Microsoft Office Suite.
