U.S. Marine Corps Judge Advocate (Attorney)

About the role

The U.S. Marine Corps is recruiting qualified attorneys to serve as active‑duty Judge Advocates. In this uniformed position you will provide legal counsel and representation across a broad spectrum of military matters, supporting national security operations worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Advise commanders on legal issues affecting operations, policy and administration.
• Represent the Marine Corps in criminal and civil litigation, courts‑martial and administrative hearings.
• Conduct legal research and draft opinions, memoranda, and policy documents.
• Participate in international law matters, rules of engagement and rules of war assessments.
• Provide guidance on contracts, procurement, environmental and employment law within the military context.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship.
• J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school (or currently pursuing).
• Under 41 years of age.
• Ability to meet Marine Corps physical fitness standards.
• Willingness to serve as a commissioned officer.

Required skills

• Legal analysis and writing.
• Litigation and courtroom advocacy.
• Knowledge of military law, criminal law, civil law and administrative law.
