About the role
The Environmental Crimes Section seeks a Trial Attorney to prosecute complex criminal cases that threaten the environment, public health, and worker safety. You will work alongside Assistant U.S. Attorneys and federal law‑enforcement partners to enforce a broad range of environmental statutes.
Key responsibilities
- Lead investigations and prosecutions involving fraud, conspiracy, obstruction, money laundering, and other serious offenses.
- Collaborate with agencies such as the EPA, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Coast Guard, USDA OIG, and FBI.
- Prepare grand‑jury presentations, conduct discovery, draft motions, and conduct trials.
- Advise agencies on undercover investigations and capacity‑building initiatives domestically and internationally.
- Apply statutes including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, Lacey Act, Animal Welfare Act, and OSHA regulations.
Required profile
- U.S. citizen or national with an active J.D. degree and bar membership in any jurisdiction.
- Minimum of four years post‑J.D. litigation or judicial experience, including at least three criminal jury trials.
- Experience as a federal, state, or local prosecutor or defender is preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in environmental protection and enforcement.
