Treatment Plant Operator I – Wastewater

About the role

The City of Pearland is seeking a full‑time Treatment Plant Operator I to support daily operations of its wastewater utilities. This position is ideal for service‑oriented individuals who thrive in a fast‑paced, regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and test wastewater, storm water, and sludge samples to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Perform on‑site laboratory analyses in accordance with TCEQ standards.
• Walk the plant to record hour‑meter data, inspect pumps, start centrifuges, and identify and resolve operational issues.
• Maintain and repair wastewater treatment equipment and basins.
• Follow Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) regulations in all activities.

Required profile

• Licensed TCEQ Water Operator (Grade C, B, or A) – higher grades qualify for larger hiring incentives.
• Experience with wastewater treatment processes and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize safety and regulatory compliance.
