Training Specialist

About the role

Saronic Technologies is looking for a Training Specialist to design, schedule, and deliver hands‑on training programs for production trades at its Austin shipyard. The role bridges production management, subject‑matter experts, and corporate Learning & Development to ensure consistent, high‑quality training for welding, fitting, wire harnessing, and other shipbuilding operations.

Key responsibilities

• Own the training calendar for the Austin site, handling scheduling, logistics, and materials while leading onboarding for new hires.
• Partner with shipyard leadership and supervisors to identify skill gaps and translate them into practical, hands‑on instruction.
• Adapt corporate‑developed content for local conditions and ensure consistent delivery across trades.
• Track completion, quality, and learner feedback in the LMS and report results to site and corporate leaders.
• Design and deliver on‑the‑job training covering blueprint reading, layout, assembly, and safe use of trade tools, equipment, and rigging.
• Provide equipment and safety training, including Powered Industrial Truck certification and PPE reinforcement.
• Coach trainees in real time and escalate systemic issues when identified.
• Host workforce development partners for site visits and third‑party‑led sessions.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in aluminum welding, wire harnessing, fitting, or a related shipbuilding/heavy‑manufacturing trade, in a training, mentoring, or lead role.
• Certification in manufacturing, mariner, welding, and/or electrical fields.
• Strong facilitation, writing, editing, project management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to partner directly with subject‑matter experts to scope learning objectives and translate complex content into accessible experiences.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.
