Tool & Die Maker

About the role

The Tool & Die Maker at reliablesfc designs and manufactures precision machine parts for the tool manufacturing sector. You will work hands‑on with metal stock, set up and operate a variety of machine tools, and ensure every component meets strict dimensional tolerances. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement of tooling designs.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze work orders, blueprints, sketches, and models to determine material requirements and visualize part geometry.
• Set up, operate, and monitor machine tools such as milling machines, shapers, grinders, and water‑jet equipment.
• Perform heat treating, cutting, shaping, and trimming of prototypes to exact specifications.
• Inspect finished parts for dimensions, alignments, clearances, and conformance to tolerances.
• Evaluate existing dies, jigs, and fixtures and recommend design modifications.
• Develop specifications and sketches for specialty tools and ensure safe workplace practices.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Machine Tool & Die or a Journeyman’s Card.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience as a Tool & Die Maker.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CNC equipment and large‑scale machining tools.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, CMM systems, 3D modeling, and CAD software.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, welding, pneumatics, brazing, and soldering.
• Strong grasp of basic algebra, geometry, and tolerance measurement (± .0002).
