Systems Architecture Software Engineer

About the role

The Software Systems Architecture team drives a unified vision for future electric vehicles across Rivian and Volkswagen brands. As a Systems Architecture Engineer you will shape the software and electrical architecture of next‑generation EVs, focusing on functional decomposition, networking, power distribution and system optimization.

Key responsibilities

• Advance analysis of network architecture, topology and behavior for current and future vehicles.
• Define and decompose functional and performance requirements into sub‑systems, ensuring state‑of‑the‑art software‑defined vehicle solutions.
• Design scalable system architecture and allocate functions across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
• Create and run models to evaluate feasibility, limits and trade‑offs of design options.
• Perform system analysis and drive optimization for cost, quality and manufacturability.

Required profile

• B.S. in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 1‑3 years experience with systems engineering, communication networks, safety‑critical systems or automotive development processes, or an advanced degree.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and strong communication skills.
• Self‑motivated with a proven ability to set direction and guide a team.
