Systems Administrator Apprentice

About the role

The Systems Administrator Apprentice will support the VP of Enterprise IT Solutions in daily lab operations, mentor fellow interns, and contribute to improving lab policies and procedures. This apprenticeship offers a hands‑on learning environment across a broad set of IT technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with daily lab tasks and maintain lab infrastructure.
• Mentor and train other interns on technical processes.
• Help design and refine lab policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Participate in projects such as report generation, training tracking, lab automation, equipment inventory, system integration, and monitoring/alerting.

Required profile

• Leadership or project‑management experience.
• Some experience with software development or scripting (e.g., Bash, JavaScript, PHP, HTML5).
• Experience training or guiding others in technical topics.

Required skills

• Private cloud platforms: VMWare, Nutanix.
• Public cloud platforms: AWS, Azure.
• Operating systems: Red Hat Linux, Windows Server 2003/2008/2012.
• Database technologies: MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL.
• Web servers: IIS, Apache, Tomcat.
• Information security standards: Industry standards, DoD standards, Security+.
• Networking: Cisco, Endian.
• Scripting and development: Bash, JavaScript, PHP, HTML5.
• Software QA testing: regression, performance, smoke, unit testing.
• Microservices and containerization: Docker, Kubernetes.
