Summer Camp Group Leader / Camp Counselor

About the role

The Summer Camp Group Leader/Camp Counselor supports Saint Louis University’s Billiken Recess Day Camp by ensuring a safe, engaging, and well‑organized experience for youth participants throughout the summer program.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of youth participants throughout the day, ensuring safety during activities such as swimming, field trips, and sports.
• Maintain appropriate staff‑to‑camper ratios and enforce risk‑management protocols.
• Plan and lead daily activities aligned with weekly themes, covering arts, recreation, and educational components.
• Assist with logistics including field‑trip coordination, lunch supervision, and set‑up of program areas.
• Serve as primary point of contact for campers and families, delivering professional customer service and communication.
