Staff Dyno Controls Engineer

About the role

ALSO is seeking a Staff Dyno Controls Engineer to develop and validate a highly customized dyno controls software platform for its small electric vehicles and drive units. You will work closely with the “dream drive” team to ensure thorough testing and validation of propulsion systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and validate in‑house drive unit dynos, vehicle dynos, and test bench models, software, and GUIs.
• Integrate drive units, dyno electric drives, sensors, power supplies, and cooling systems into dyno control systems.
• Create dyno and embedded control interfaces for automated validation and profiling.
• Perform testing, troubleshooting, and bug tracking in dyno labs and vehicle environments.
• Collaborate with controls, firmware, electrical, mechanical, and system engineers on validation and development.

Required profile

• BS or MS in Controls, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Hands‑on experience with dynamometers, power supplies, and motor drive testing.
• Familiarity with embedded controllers and programming in C and Python.

Required skills

• MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, automation scripting.
• Real‑time simulation platforms (Speedgoat, NI PXIe, dSpace).
• NI Veristand, LabVIEW (plus).
• Motor control, electric drives, Siemens drives (plus).
• Automotive communication protocols (CAN, EtherCAT) and tools (Vector CANalyzer, CANape).
• Version control (Git) and CI workflows.
