Software Leader

About the role

You will drive the development and execution of Seneca's software systems across autonomy, controls, perception, onboard intelligence, and cloud infrastructure. Reporting to executive leadership, you will partner closely with hardware, software, electrical, test and other functions to deliver fully integrated, mission‑critical systems for wildfire suppression drones.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the software roadmap for autonomy, navigation, perception, targeting, flight control, simulation, and cloud‑based systems.
• Write production‑level code and build prototypes while establishing scalable, reliable infrastructure.
• Recruit, mentor, and manage a high‑caliber engineering team with expertise in flight controls, robotics, ML/AI, and embedded systems.
• Collaborate with hardware, product, and operations teams to design integrated systems that meet real‑world performance requirements.
• Develop simulation and testing environments to enable rapid iteration and improve perception and planning performance.

Required profile

• ~10 years of software engineering experience, preferably in robotics, autonomous systems, drones, or aerospace.
• Proven ability to lead high‑performing teams in fast‑paced, early‑stage environments.
• Experience deploying software in real‑world field conditions; familiarity with FAA, safety, or defense requirements is a plus.
