About the role
Join Johnson & Johnson's Surgery team in Santa Clara to work on cutting‑edge robotic surgical platforms. This internship offers hands‑on experience across the full software development lifecycle, from real‑time embedded code to user‑interface applications.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, document and maintain software for safety‑critical robotic applications.
- Contribute to software architecture, framework design, and system‑level design for robotic platforms.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, debugging activities and root‑cause investigations.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including systems, electrical, mechanical, quality and clinical engineering.
Required profile
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s or PhD program in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and available full‑time for the June‑August 2027 internship period.
- U.S. work authorization without future sponsorship.
Required skills
- Programming in C, modern C++, Python and Qt/QML.
- Experience with embedded systems, firmware, microcontrollers or real‑time operating systems.
- Familiarity with software design principles, OOP, data structures and algorithms.
- Exposure to robotics, AI/ML, computer vision, cybersecurity, virtualization or cloud technologies.
- Use of development tools such as Git, automated testing, CI/CD and code reviews.
