Software Engineer – UI Developer

About the role

Our Frontend Engineering team is seeking a Software Engineer – UI Developer to join the Bay Area office. You will work on Alkira’s Cloud Services Exchange (CSX), designing, developing and debugging web and mobile user interfaces that power networking functions.

Key responsibilities

• Build high‑performing web experiences using React, Redux and Hooks.
• Develop scalable, reliable web applications and component libraries for an enterprise‑focused cloud platform.
• Ensure flexibility and rapid adaptation to dynamic product requirements.
• Promote usability and accessibility in every user experience.
• Work with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and integrate REST APIs.
• Maintain code quality with Git, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Improve test coverage across end‑to‑end, integration and unit tests.
• Manage time effectively and collaborate both independently and within a team.

Required profile

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Excellent JavaScript programming and debugging skills.
• Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures and operating systems.
• 1‑2+ years of professional experience with React/Redux or a modern front‑end framework.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 and modern JavaScript (ES6, async, closures).
• Experience with CSS preprocessors (Less or Sass) in large‑scale applications.
• Familiarity with UI testing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha or Cypress.
• Team‑player able to work with geographically distributed teams.
