Signal Design Internship

About the role

This internship supports engineering tasks related to signal design for transit projects. The focus is on creating computer‑automation tools, bill of materials, power calculations, test forms, CAD drafting, PLC circuit design, and user interfaces for the signal lab.

Key responsibilities

• Soldering, wiring, and integrated circuit testing.
• Circuit analysis and power calculations using train braking algorithms.
• Processing electrical signal data in Matlab and Python.
• Creating and verifying test documentation against system requirements.
• Designing PLC circuits and drafting CAD drawings.
• Building project layouts in Visio and managing test forms in Excel.
• Integrating cloud workflow tools such as Box and Smartsheet.

Required profile

• Pursuing a BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering Technology.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organization, and time‑management skills.
• Experience working with diverse public agencies, utilities, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Completed Circuits 2 or an Electronics Lab course.
