Senior/Staff Platform Engineer

About the role

Sei Labs is building a high‑performance, parallelized EVM Layer‑1 blockchain. The Platform Engineer role is focused on making the safe path the default for every engineer – observable, tested, reversible, and fast. You will be a foundational hire on a small Platform Engineering team with a broad mandate.

Key responsibilities

• Infrastructure & scale testing – build and maintain Docker/Kubernetes harnesses for repeatable stress and scale testing used as a pre‑release gate.
• Release engineering & CI/CD – consolidate CI/CD into reusable workflows, own version tagging, hot‑fix paths, PR review scaffolding, and the full release lifecycle.
• Observability – provide a single pane of glass for metrics, traces, and logs correlated by block height, powered by OpenTelemetry, HA Prometheus, and ELK with defined SLOs.
• Performance & chaos testing in CI – automate chaos and performance tests that gate 100% of releases, catching regressions before merge.
• Security & incident response – run end‑to‑end bug and vulnerability workflows, produce new tests, metrics, or runbooks from every incident.

Required profile

• 5+ years building production systems at scale, with end‑to‑end ownership.
• Strong security fundamentals, threat modeling, and vulnerability mitigation integrated into pipelines.
• Deep understanding of distributed consensus algorithms, safety vs. liveness, and practical debugging experience.
• Expertise in benchmarking, performance bottleneck analysis, and realistic load profiling.
• Proven live incident response experience with clear post‑mortem driven fixes.
• End‑to‑end systems thinking, with opinions on monitoring stacks, CI vs. CD vs. runtime, and chaos testing.
