Senior Traffic Design Engineer – MOT & Signing

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Traffic Design Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex transportation projects focused on Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) and signing/striping. The role combines project management, technical leadership, and client interaction to ensure high‑quality, compliant traffic control solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage MOT phasing strategies, signing, striping, and traffic control plans for phased construction, detours, and temporary traffic control.
• Serve as technical lead on mid‑ to large‑scale traffic design assignments, ensuring quality control and compliance with MUTCD, AASHTO, DOT, and agency standards.
• Prepare and oversee studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates from concept through final delivery.
• Coordinate with clients, public agencies, stakeholders, and internal multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful projects.
• Manage staff assignments, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate resources across traffic and related disciplines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 8+ years of professional traffic engineering experience, with a focus on signing and MOT.
• Experience with design‑build or alternative delivery methods preferred.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
