Senior Project Engineer - Bridge Design

About the role

Waggoner Engineering is seeking a Senior Project Engineer specializing in bridge design to join its Baton Rouge, LA office. The position offers the flexibility to work remotely for the right candidate while delivering high‑quality planning, design, and technical support on bridge projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering analysis and design for new bridge construction and rehabilitation projects.
• Assess existing bridge conditions and develop remedial measures.
• Conduct as‑design, as‑built, and load rating calculations in accordance with AASHTO and client specifications.
• Prepare construction plans, specifications, and contract documents for bidding.
• Provide construction‑phase engineering support, including on‑site reviews with the Construction Services team.
• Coordinate communications with clients and maintain project documentation.
• Assist Project Managers with schedule, scope, and budget reviews.

Required profile

• Senior‑level civil engineer with extensive experience in bridge design and rehabilitation.
• Proven ability to deliver projects within budget and schedule constraints.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for client interaction.
