Senior Drainage Engineer & Project Manager

About the role

The Drainage Engineer / Project Manager will lead the design and delivery of flood control and roadway drainage projects for our Transportation team. You will work closely with public agencies and internal stakeholders to provide resilient, cost‑effective solutions while ensuring compliance with federal and state guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and design local flood control facilities, roadway drainage systems, and erosion control structures.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using HEC‑1, HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS, and related tools.
• Prepare technical reports, construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and QA/QC reviews.
• Coordinate utilities, sub‑consultants, and stakeholders; conduct project meetings and client presentations.
• Ensure compliance with AASHTO, FHWA, NEPA, USACE, DOT and local stormwater guidelines.
• Develop project scopes, fee proposals, schedules, budgets and invoicing; monitor progress and deliverables.
• Maintain strong relationships with federal, state and local agencies and provide strategic technical leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
• 5–15+ years of professional hydraulics design experience, including roadway drainage and flood control design.
• Experience working with transportation and flood control agencies is highly preferred.
