Senior Director of Finance & Accounting

About the role

The Senior Director of Finance & Accounting is a key member of the executive team, overseeing all accounting, financial strategy, and business operations for Martin Commercial Properties and its affiliates. The role reports directly to the CEO and drives financial performance, compliance, and process improvement across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the accounting team in daily cash management, payroll, invoicing, and month‑end/year‑end close.
• Prepare and present monthly financial statements, annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
• Manage inter‑company activity, reconciliations, and corporate tax filings.
• Oversee commercial insurance programs and risk‑mitigation initiatives.
• Implement and enhance accounting systems, internal controls, and a comprehensive job‑costing system for property development.
• Serve as the Yardi system administrator, handling support tickets and system issues.
• Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning, process improvements, and cross‑functional integration (operations, sales, HR, IT).

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in finance and accounting, preferably within real‑estate or property management.
• Proven ability to lead large accounting teams and manage complex financial operations.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, tax regulations, and internal control frameworks.
• Demonstrated ethical leadership and excellent communication with executives and stakeholders.
