Senior Design Engineer (Mechanical/Aerospace)

About the role

Moog’s Space Actuation team in East Aurora, NY is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join a dynamic, high‑performance environment. Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Design Engineering Manager, you will work onsite in Buffalo, NY, contributing to cutting‑edge motion‑control solutions for aerospace and defense customers.

Key responsibilities

• Translate complex project requirements into 3‑D models, layouts, and detailed engineering drawings.
• Oversee technical design, implementation, and delivery of projects, ensuring cost‑effective and functional products.
• Create and verify detailed drawings, maintain accurate Bill of Materials, and enforce GD&T standards.
• Validate design integrity, including proportionality, sizing, dimensional accuracy, and tolerance limits.
• Recommend materials and processing procedures to meet performance and reliability goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5+ years of design engineering experience in a complex manufacturing environment; aerospace experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance.
• Proven communication skills with customers, vendors, and internal technical teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Mechanical CAD tools, specifically Siemens NX.
• Experience using Teamcenter PLM.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and technical drawing practices.
