Senior Business Development Officer – Dealer Commercial Services

About the role

Santander’s Dealer Commercial Services (DCS) unit is seeking a Senior Business Development Officer to drive growth with automotive dealers across New York and New Jersey. The role combines prospecting for new commercial opportunities with managing an existing portfolio of dealer clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prospect and acquire new commercial banking business for automotive dealers.
• Maintain and expand relationships with existing dealer clients.
• Discuss client needs, arrange meetings with internal specialists, and ensure high‑quality service.
• Represent Santander at civic and community events to enhance brand visibility.
• Assist in the rollout of company‑wide business development call programs.
• Pre‑qualify clients, identify cross‑sell opportunities with strategic partners, and develop regional business development plans.
• Generate leads through referral sources, collaborate with Relationship Managers, and document outcomes for management reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 9 years of experience in lending and/or new‑business development within commercial banking.
