Senior Accounting Specialist – Accounts Payable

About the role

Cowboy Space Corp. is seeking a Senior Accounting Specialist to lead and scale its high‑volume accounts payable function. You will work closely with engineering, supply‑chain, purchasing and business partners to ensure accurate, timely processing of vendor invoices while maintaining strong internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Process a large volume of vendor invoices with two‑way and three‑way matching against purchase orders and receiving documents.
• Review invoices for correct coding, approvals and supporting documentation.
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, pricing variances, and unmatched transactions.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to address payment and PO issues.
• Monitor AP aging and execute weekly payment runs (ACH, wire transfers, checks).
• Handle employee expense reimbursements and corporate credit‑card transactions.
• Maintain vendor master records and ensure data accuracy.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing by reconciling AP balances and accruals.
• Assist with 1099, sales‑tax and property‑tax filing and year‑end vendor tax compliance.
• Maintain organized electronic and physical AP records for audit purposes.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience in a high‑volume environment, primarily accounts payable.
• Proven ability to manage large invoice volumes while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.

Required skills

• Experience with Ramp accounts‑payable platform.
• Knowledge of ACH, wire transfer and check payment processing.
• Familiarity with 1099 reporting and sales‑tax/property‑tax filing.
