Security Specialist (TS/SCI) - Special Access Programs

About the role

MANTECH, a defense contractor since 1968, is looking for a motivated, career and customer-oriented Security Specialist to join its team in Huntsville, Alabama. The role applies an understanding of the regulations governing Special Access Programs (SAP) and takes part in administering, coordinating and controlling them, supporting operational security across administrative management, personnel security, physical security and security education. It is a full-time, on-site position requiring an active Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Process incoming Program Access Request (PAR) packages and track approvals and signatures in the JADE database
• Update and scan Program Indoctrination Agreements, debriefing statements, foreign travel logs and security violations in JADE
• Perform personnel verification via the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) and run security briefings and debriefings
• Help customers check PAR package status, review reciprocity files and risk assessments, and draft Continued Access Eligibility (CAE) request letters
• Review DD-254s, issue and track Pre-Screening Questionnaires (PSQ) and carry out classified document reviews
• Support self-inspections, SOP writing, OPSEC plans, SAP/SCI facility accreditation and access control
• Manage physical security duties such as key custodianship, classified mail processing, electronic data transfers and classified material destruction

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• 3 years of experience in personnel security or a related field
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance
• Ability to multi-task, self-start and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal and customer relations skills
• Sedentary work, with occasional movement around the office and frequent communication with colleagues, management and customers

Required skills

• Working knowledge of the PAR process and PSQ templates
• Preferred: prior SAP support experience
• Preferred: hands-on use of JADE, DISS or similar personnel security databases
• Preferred: familiarity with Top Secret media control, accountability and basic DD-254 documentation
