Radiologic Technologist (PRN) – Flexible Schedule

About the role

Ochsner Health seeks a Radiologic Technologist on a PRN (as‑needed) basis to perform routine radiographic procedures safely and accurately. The role includes mentoring junior staff and students while delivering high‑quality imaging services to patients.

Key responsibilities

• Verify physician orders and ensure correct procedure selection.
• Operate radiography equipment independently, including placement of tubes, IVs, catheters, and contrast administration.
• Explain procedures to patients, obtain consent, and ensure comfort.
• Review images for diagnostic quality before transmission.
• Complete quality‑control checks and report any regulatory issues.
• Assist with departmental tasks such as inventory, scheduling, and equipment maintenance.

Required profile

• Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.
• ARRT registration or eligibility, with registration within 90 days of hire.
• Current unrestricted state license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Operation of radiography imaging equipment.
• Use of Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and related software.
• Patient positioning and contrast administration techniques.
• Computer proficiency with web‑based applications.
• Adherence to radiation safety and infection‑control protocols.
