Qualified Elevator Inspector (MA, CT, RI)

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking a Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) to perform inspections on elevators, escalators, mechanized walkways and related lift machinery across Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. The role ensures that all work complies with applicable codes, standards and contract documents while maintaining safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Perform trade‑specific code and quality‑control inspections on various phases of elevator and lift equipment.
• Detect defects or faults in installations, maintenance or operation and recommend remedial measures per jurisdictional requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and installation plans to verify compliance.
• Coordinate schedules with service companies and technicians to maximize operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Current QEI certification or at least five years of elevator industry experience; engineering education may substitute for two years of experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of elevator, escalator and moving‑walk construction, repair practices and the American National Standard Safety Code.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Access.
