Professional Engineer – Roadway

About the role

Horrocks is seeking a Professional Engineer specialized in roadway design to join its transportation team in Spokane. The engineer will lead the design and analysis of freeways, interstates, interchanges, and both urban and rural roadways, as well as shared‑use trails, while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyze freeways, interstate highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared‑use trails.
• Prepare studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects.
• Lead the roadway design discipline under the direction of a Project Manager and coordinate with other design disciplines.
• Support project managers in client relations, stakeholder coordination, and sub‑consultant management.
• Collaborate with coworkers to achieve shared project success.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineering license in the state of employment or ability to obtain within one year.
• Minimum five years of experience in roadway transportation engineering.
• Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams and knowledge of AASHTO geometric design criteria.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Bentley civil design software (preferred).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
