Stream Design Engineer (Professional Engineer)

About the role

As a Stream Design Engineer you will lead planning and design of stream restoration, fish passage and river engineering projects across Washington and the Pacific Northwest, supporting transportation and environmental goals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, analysis and design of stream restoration, fish passage and hydraulic projects.
• Develop hydraulic and hydrologic models for culverts, bridges and restoration works using tools such as HEC‑RAS, SRH‑2D or HY‑8.
• Design natural channel systems, bank stabilization, large woody material installations and bio‑engineering solutions.
• Prepare construction plans, specifications, cost estimates and technical reports; serve as Engineer of Record when required.
• Coordinate permitting, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support construction activities on site.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to business development efforts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Water Resources, Biological Systems or related engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington or ability to obtain it.
• 5+ years of experience in stream restoration, river engineering, fish passage or hydraulic design.
• Proficiency with hydraulic modeling software (HEC‑RAS, SRH‑2D, HY‑8) and preparation of construction documents.
• Knowledge of Washington permitting processes and environmental regulations.
