Procurement Lead

About the role

Clay is a fast‑growing AI GTM platform looking for its first Procurement hire. You will own the end‑to‑end vendor negotiation lifecycle, driving better deals and building the infrastructure to scale purchasing across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the vendor negotiation strategy across SaaS, data partnerships, hosting, professional services and marketing spend.
• Audit existing contracts to identify renegotiation opportunities, unfavorable terms and upcoming renewals.
• Run competitive sourcing events (RFPs, RFQs, reverse auctions) to benchmark pricing and create leverage.
• Lead commercial negotiations from anchor price to final signature, focusing on unit price, payment terms, caps and exit rights.
• Build and maintain a savings tracker and reporting dashboards for Finance leadership.
• Create negotiation playbooks by vendor category and manage renewal calendars to avoid auto‑renewals.
• Implement a procurement intake and approval platform, define routing, PO thresholds and integrate with ERP and invoicing systems.

Required profile

• 6–10 years of procurement or strategic sourcing experience with a proven savings record.
• Expert negotiator who has closed complex, high‑value SaaS and vendor contracts.
• Deep familiarity with SaaS and AI pricing models, contract structures and vendor levers.
• Experience running competitive sourcing events and building financial models to assess price quality.
• Hands‑on experience implementing procure‑to‑pay or intake platforms (e.g., Zip, Coupa).
• Ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments and maintain vendor relationships.
