Principal Software Engineer - Python

About the role

Veeva is building a new AI‑driven platform to transform safety, regulatory, and clinical development for life‑sciences companies. As a founding member of this product team, you will shape the architecture, codebase, and engineering culture from day one, delivering a platform that will have live customers within the first year.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle of features, from design and development to deployment, production support, and maintenance, using AI assistance for productivity.
• Collaborate with product management and development to design technical solutions and deliver high‑quality code.
• Rapidly analyze complex problems, identify knowns and unknowns, and drive robust solutions.
• Define, promote, and mentor engineering best practices, including AI‑assisted development techniques.
• Provide comprehensive code reviews for engineers of all experience levels.
• Mentor and develop engineering talent through structured guidance and coaching.

Required profile

• 12+ years of production‑level Python development experience.
• Extensive background building high‑scale enterprise SaaS cloud applications.
• Proven track record architecting high‑volume, scalable products.
• Hands‑on experience with open‑source tools such as Git, FastAPI, and Pydantic.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, start‑up‑like environment and mentor others.
• Strong work ethic, high integrity, and excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
