Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join its Primary Care team in Morton, Mississippi. The role works in a collaborative outpatient model under the supervision of the Medical Director and alongside residents, fellows, attendings, and staff. You will be responsible for primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization, and education of trainees and patients.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care using approved medical practice processes, addressing physical, psychosocial, and educational needs.
• Provide education to patients, families, staff, and the community, and support discharge planning.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and ensure compliance.
• Participate in teaching residents and medical students and contribute to staff development.
• Perform other related duties as required, including research methodology development.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Nursing for NP or Bachelor’s/Master’s in Physician Assistant studies.
• Current APRN license (NP) or PA license with NCCPA certification.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Eligibility for prescriptive authority in Mississippi.
• None required experience; 3 years preferred.

Required skills

• Computer skills for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and related software packages.
