Post Allotment Accounting Financial Analyst

About the role

The Post Allotment Accounting Financial Analyst will support the Department of State in Charleston, SC by managing post‑allotment financial processes, performing detailed analysis, and ensuring compliance with federal financial regulations and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Perform General Ledger research, reconciliations, and prepare journal vouchers.
• Audit financial records, produce reports and statements, and maintain spreadsheets.
• Identify and mitigate risks, develop and implement internal controls, and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Engage stakeholders, recommend system changes, and drive continuous process improvements using SMART criteria.
• Manage financial systems independently and support change‑management initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, or information systems with at least 2 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Alternatively, an associate degree with 4 + years experience or 6 + years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial analysis, process improvement, or internal control development.
• Experience managing financial systems independently.
• Entry‑level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (sorting, simple formulas).
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in team‑oriented environments.
