Porter (Cleaning and Custodial)

About the role

Fairstead is a real estate firm that builds and manages affordable housing, owning and managing more than 30,000 apartments across 28 states. It is hiring a Porter in New York to provide routine cleaning and custodial care of the property's exterior and to keep the premises and facilities clean and hygienic. Bilingualism in Spanish is required.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and inspect the property daily, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors, carpets, vents, restrooms and common areas, picking up trash and keeping entrances, lobbies, grounds and exterior areas clear.
• Walk the property daily to check cleanliness and safety and help maintain good curb appeal.
• Report conditions that prevent cleaning or need extra attention, and notify the supervisor of problems or difficulties.
• Maintain a high level of customer service.
• Carry out assigned cleaning tasks such as carpet cleaning, stripping, waxing and buffing.
• Move supplies and equipment as needed and monitor inventory, notifying management when supplies must be replenished.
• Remove snow and ice from entrances, sidewalks and walkways where applicable, and place safety signs for wet floors, wet paint and other hazards.
• Respond promptly to spills, cleaning emergencies and other urgent needs.

Required profile

• General interest in custodial and cleaning work with strong attention to detail.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and on-call duty.
• Bilingual in Spanish.
