Police Corporal

About the role

Join the UAMS Police Department as a Police Corporal, providing a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, students, and visitors on the Little Rock campus. Reporting to the Chief of Police and a Patrol Sergeant, you will enforce traffic, criminal, and parking regulations while upholding department standards.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate campus accidents, prepare detailed reports, and handle complaints involving officers.
• Make arrests as needed and provide court testimony when directed.
• Patrol interior and exterior of campus buildings, maintaining a highly visible presence.
• Conduct traffic‑control duties and ensure orderly flow of vehicles.
• Supervise Patrol and Security Officers in the absence of senior supervisors.
• Inspect facilities and grounds on foot or by vehicle, reporting equipment conditions.
• Provide secure escorts for individuals and money transfers.
• Respond promptly to service calls and document incidents accurately.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED plus at least two years of law‑enforcement experience.
• Minimum age of 21 and a valid Arkansas driver’s license.
• Certification as a Police Officer through the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training.
• Ability to walk 8‑12 miles during a 12‑hour shift and climb multiple flights of stairs.
