Physician – Director of Thoracic Transplantation

About the role

Ochsner Health in New Orleans is seeking an experienced Transplant Pulmonologist to lead its thoracic transplantation program. The physician will oversee the lung transplant program, contributing to patient selection, peri‑operative care and long‑term management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead medical management of lung transplant patients, including pre‑transplant evaluation, peri‑operative care, and post‑transplant follow‑up.
• Participate in selection of transplant candidates and coordinate multidisciplinary transplant team activities.
• Contribute to the growth and quality improvement of the Multi‑Organ Transplant Center.
• Mentor fellows and junior physicians in pulmonary and critical care.

Required profile

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
• Minimum five years of experience managing lung transplant patients across all phases of care.
• Commitment to academic medicine and participation in clinical research.
• Ability to work on‑site in New Orleans (remote work not permitted).
