Physical Therapy Assistant – Per Diem

About the role

The Physical Therapy Assistant provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. This per‑diem position supports patients in regaining mobility, strength, and function across multiple LVHN facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver physical therapy treatments according to the plan of care, including exercise instruction, gait training, and use of assistive devices.
• Apply modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and other physical agents to aid recovery and pain relief.
• Measure and document patient performance changes and communicate progress to the supervising PT.
• Select and fit appropriate assistive devices and educate patients on proper use.
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Associate’s Degree in Physical Therapy Assisting.
• Current Pennsylvania PTA license (or obtain upon hire).
• Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association) required upon hire.
• Ability to work at various LVHN locations on a per‑diem basis.
• Physical ability to lift and carry 40‑50 lb and stand/walk for extended periods.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using ultrasound and electrical stimulation equipment.
• Knowledge of gait training techniques and assistive device fitting.
• Ability to teach and mentor patients and staff in exercise and mobility techniques.
