Per Diem Nurse Practitioner (Student Health)

About the role

Carleton College invites applicants for a Per Diem Nurse Practitioner position in Student Health and Counseling. The role provides primary health care to college students (ages 17‑24) on an intermittent, hourly‑paid basis during academic terms.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments, physical exams, order and interpret labs, prescribe medications and non‑pharmacologic therapies.
• Provide independent wrap‑around care including patient rooming and phlebotomy, and manage telephone triage and walk‑in visits.
• Consult with and refer to SHAC team members and off‑campus providers as needed.
• Document all care in the electronic health record and collaborate with campus departments to meet health needs.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Nursing with advanced practice preparation.
• Board certification acceptable to the Minnesota Board of Nursing for primary care of undergraduate students.
• Current Minnesota RN and APRN licenses in good standing.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, self‑motivated and organized.

Required skills

• Advanced Practice Nursing principles and scope of practice in a college health setting.
• Clinical skills: physical exam, phlebotomy, laboratory ordering and interpretation, medication prescribing.
• Electronic health record documentation.
