Patient Access Representative – Part Time

About the role

The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a part‑time Patient Access Representative to register patients for clinical services, verify insurance, and collect payments on site.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full patient registration, verify insurance benefits, and ensure all information is accurate.
• Collect and copy insurance cards, driver’s licenses, and any required referrals.
• Explain Consent for Treatment, Financial Liability, and HIPAA forms and obtain patient signatures.
• Guide patients to complete physician‑required questionnaires.
• Schedule, cancel, edit appointments and accurately record no‑show patients.
• Reconcile vouchers and deliver them to the designated area.
• Answer telephone calls, respond to inquiries, and transfer calls when appropriate.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent (or relevant experience, certification, or license).
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in patient registration or similar role.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork orientation and clear written and verbal communication skills.
