Part‑Time Operations Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Part‑Time Operations Assistant to support our gallery and auction operations in New York. You will work closely with the operations team to install, de‑install, and maintain exhibition spaces, auction rooms, and event venues.

Key responsibilities

• Install and touch‑up gallery walls, paint plinths, chase cabling, and focus exhibition lighting.
• De‑install exhibitions, patch walls, wrap cases, and remove signage.
• Set up auction rooms: move furniture, install carpet, arrange chairs, hang TVs and cameras, and manage lighting.
• Takedown auction setups and return galleries to a clean, painted state.
• Assist the Event Technician with carpeting, sound, lighting, furniture, bars, signage, and AV/IT equipment during events.
• Maintain a safe, risk‑free environment at the start and end of each day.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in an auction house, recognized gallery, or museum.
• Ability to lift 50–70 lb and work under tight deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills, punctuality, and a proactive attitude.
• Team player who can follow direction from managers and technicians.

Required skills

• Basic carpentry and use of power tools.
• Basic electrical wiring and cabling.
• Audio/visual setup and troubleshooting.
• Painting, wall repair, and surface preparation.
• Knowledge of professional packing methods for artwork.
