Paralegal – New York City (Hybrid)

About the role

The Office of Legal Affairs at New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) is seeking a Paralegal to support its General Law team and Section 8 housing programs. This hybrid position offers the chance to work on a variety of legal matters that directly impact affordable housing across New York State.

Key responsibilities

• Assist General Law attorneys with case tracking, file monitoring, and workload balancing.
• Review incoming letters and notices, ensuring timely distribution to the appropriate staff.
• Conduct legal research, draft memoranda, and prepare writing assignments as directed by counsel.
• Support Section 8 program compliance, including vendor background searches, contract clause updates, and preparation for hearings.
• Liaise with attorneys on corporate governance issues related to Housing Choice Voucher and Project Based Voucher programs.
• Help resolve disputes involving Section 8 benefits, terminations, and appeals.
• Provide legal support for the Mitchell‑Lama Housing Program and review subpoenas and FOIL requests.

Required profile
