Operator I – Sludge Treatment & Processing

About the role

The Operator I is responsible for operating and maintaining sludge de‑watering, treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment in a refinery or industrial facility. This position works under direct supervision to ensure customer specifications are met.

Key responsibilities

• Learn and independently operate assigned machines, meeting or exceeding processing and quality targets.
• Operate equipment such as pumps, centrifuges, valves, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection units, sludge processing filters, measuring and control devices, testing equipment, and material handling systems.
• Work safely on and around the job location and keep the work area neat and clean.
• Collect liquid and solid samples, perform routine sampling and testing, and log process readings.
• Collaborate in a team environment and readily assume additional responsibilities.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated knowledge of general safety rules and the consequences of violations.
• Understanding of procedures related to the equipment being operated.
