About the role
The School of Civic Life and Leadership at UNC‑Chapel Hill seeks an Open Rank, tenure‑track faculty member. The appointment will support teaching, research, and service that advance the school’s mission of fostering public discourse, civic engagement, and democratic competencies.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses related to civic life, public discourse, political economy, or related fields.
- Conduct scholarly research that contributes to the interdisciplinary goals of the school and the broader university community.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service, including curriculum development, student advising, and committee work.
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to create innovative programs and public‑engagement initiatives.
Required profile
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in a discipline aligned with the school’s mission.
- Demonstrated potential for high‑quality teaching and scholarly research.
- Commitment to interdisciplinary work and to fostering inclusive, civil public discourse.
- Ability to contribute to the school’s service and outreach activities.
