Night Surgical Technician – Labor & Delivery (St. Mary)

About the role

The Surgical Technician supports the Labor & Delivery Unit at St. Mary during night shifts, ensuring equipment and supplies are ready for endoscopy and surgical procedures. The role involves scrubbing for surgeries, assisting with endoscopy, and performing duties assigned by the RN.

Key responsibilities

• Organize activities and supplies based on the surgery schedule and daily departmental needs.
• Perform direct patient‑care duties and provide services under the supervision of the staff nurse.
• Communicate patient‑care information to patients, families, and co‑workers.
• Maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials.
• Adapt to rapid changes in unit census, patient acuity, and resource availability.
• Perform other related duties as required and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Required profile

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or military program (online programs not accepted) OR 5 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Certification in surgical technology (preferred).
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability.
