Network Installation Technician I

About the role

PEAKE is seeking motivated Network Installation Technicians to support a 10‑month Department of War contract, with possible extension. The role focuses on installing, terminating, and testing structured copper and fiber cabling for enterprise‑level services.

Key responsibilities

• Install CAT‑6 and fiber‑optic structured cabling systems, including pulling, fire‑stopping, dressing, and labeling to industry standards.
• Terminate all Ethernet and fiber connectors, perform single‑mode and multi‑mode testing using Fluke and OTDR equipment, and troubleshoot fiber issues.
• Conduct fiber characterization testing and resolve any performance problems.
• Install and configure closet hardware such as backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures.
• Follow DISA installation procedures for NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, and Centrix networks.
• Attend safety and training meetings and adhere to all safety policies.

Required profile

• Active DoW Secret clearance (or higher).
• At least 1 year of relevant cabling or construction‑trade experience.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting 50 lb+, climbing, and prolonged standing.
• Veterans with military communications/networking MOS are strongly encouraged.

Required skills

• Cable termination for CAT‑6, Ethernet, and fiber optics.
• Fiber testing with Fluke, OTDR, and fiber characterization tools.
• Installation of closet hardware (racks, patch panels, backboards).
• Knowledge of DISA guidelines (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, Centrix).
• Network configuration and troubleshooting.
• Security+ (preferred) and BICSI Installer/Technician certification (a plus).
