Medication Access Specialist – Hybrid (Internal Medicine Clinic)

About the role

The Medication Access Specialist supports providers in the Internal Medicine Clinic by ensuring patients receive timely medication authorizations, refills, and lab monitoring. This hybrid position works onsite two days a week and collaborates with patients, caregivers, clinicians, and pharmacy staff.

Key responsibilities

• Process patient onboarding and collect medication history using the EHR.
• Navigate medication authorization workflows, coordinate with insurers, and obtain prior approvals.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in medication histories by communicating with pharmacists and prescribers.
• Document all interactions and findings in the electronic health record for seamless team collaboration.
• Provide high‑quality customer service to patients, families, and care team members, directing complex inquiries to appropriate staff.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, medical intake, or related healthcare role.
• Medication Therapy Management Certification (PTCB) to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Preferred: Active national Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB).

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers, software, web‑based applications, and EHR systems.
