Mechanical Engineer – Remote Contract (up to $80/hr)

About the role

Mercor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to work remotely on enterprise‑level product design cycles for Fortune 500 clients. This contract position involves creating detailed engineering scenarios, performing advanced analyses, and delivering technical narratives that guide manufacturing and regulatory certification.

Key responsibilities

• Construct mechanical engineering scenarios for complex product design, multi‑stakeholder reviews, and certification processes.
• Perform CAD modeling, thermal/fluid systems analysis, structural and stress analysis, reliability/failure analysis, and manufacturing process engineering.
• Develop solutions using SolidWorks, ANSYS, CATIA, MATLAB/Simulink, and PLM platforms such as Siemens Teamcenter and PTC Windchill.
• Apply FEA/CFD simulation, DFM/DFA principles, Six Sigma/DFSS, and GD&T standards to produce design specifications and executive‑level reports.
• Author rubrics that differentiate authentic enterprise engineering judgment from textbook knowledge.

Required profile

• 5+ years as a Mechanical Engineer or lead in a Fortune 500 industrial, automotive, aerospace, or manufacturing company (e.g., GE, Boeing, Caterpillar, Ford, Honeywell).
• Direct ownership of large‑scale product designs, manufacturing processes, or certification programs.
• Deep understanding of Fortune 500 safety standards, ISO/FAA/FDA regulatory requirements, and cross‑functional design governance.
