Literacy Coach

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Literacy Coach to lead the implementation of evidence‑based reading instruction at Wauka Mountain. The role focuses on supporting teachers through non‑evaluative, job‑embedded coaching aligned with the Georgia Early Literacy Act.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on instructional coaching, including co‑teaching, modeling, and observation‑based cycles.
• Serve as the school‑based expert on the Science of Reading, ensuring alignment with phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension standards.
• Lead teacher teams in analyzing universal reading screener and progress‑monitoring data to differentiate instruction.
• Facilitate school‑wide literacy professional development and PLCs focused on Structured Literacy.
• Partner with administration to develop and monitor a comprehensive School Literacy Plan.

Required profile

• Valid Georgia Professional Teaching Certificate (Level 5 or higher).
• Minimum 35 years of successful K‑5 classroom teaching experience with documented literacy growth.
• Master’s degree (field not specified).
• Preferred endorsements: Reading, Dyslexia, or Teacher Leader/Coaching.
• Training in the Science of Reading and completion of Georgia literacy modules.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of the Georgia Early Literacy Act and state literacy competencies.
• Ability to translate complex student data into actionable instructional plans.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building trust with adult learners.
